CHILDREN IN TRAFFIC

Safety of children in traffic and activities related to this issue is one of the most important segments of work of the Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Serbia. Being aware of the comlexity of this activity and the maximum commitment it requires from numerous entities to work in close cooperation, complementing one another, a Team has been set up for planning, preparation and realization of activities and measures in the field of traffic culture and safe behaviour in traffic of pre-school and school children.

This Team is currently composed of representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sport, the Ministry of Interior, the Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Serbia and the Society of Technical Education Teachers of Serbia.

The planes and activities tailored for the safe participation in traffic of the youngest population, in the forthcoming period, were presented at the press conference held at the Government of the Republic of Serbia, on November 28, 2006.

We are very glad to be able to say that this iniative has been very well accepted and that many other important institutions recognized their role in the work of this Team. Thus the Ministry of Capital Investments and the Public Enterprise “Roads of Serbia” announced their joining in and active participation in the activities of the Team.

AUTOMOBILE AND MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION OF SERBIA!

For more than eight decades, the AMSS has been the organization rendering efficient and up-to-date set of assistances and services to the participants in traffic of all generations, 24 hours a day, all the year round.

The AMSS of today represents the system with more than a hundred automobile and motorcycle clubs and societies, together with the Operation Center, information, technical and centers for drivers’ training, specialized vehicles for roadside assistance, etc. The following entities also make the constituent parts of the AMSS: the Center for Motor Vehicles, the AMS Insurance Company, the AMSS Agency and the AMSS Enterprise.

Since the distant 1926, the AMSS has been the member of the international organizations, such as: Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Alliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT), Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Our organization also has good contacts and relationships with all the clubs from Europe and the Balkan Peninsula, and firm bilateral relations have been maintained as well with all the neighboring countries.

Reports concerning road conditions in the country given by the Operation Center are broadcast daily, by more than 250 radio and TV stations, as well as daily news and magazines, of which we would single out the cooperation with the SAT review, the magazine of the AMSS members.

Hundreds of thousands of calls made on a yearly basis, through the unique telephone number for the country – 987, are the recognition of the AMSS as the house in which numerous automobile and motorcycle users, as well as other participants in traffic, may have their complete trust, not only when assistance and information concerning traffic and automobile are needed, but also when one is in need of friendly understanding and support. In that sense, we are very glad to have more and more drivers deciding to become members of the AMSS and through this membership express their need for an appropriate protection of their rights and interests, on all the levels of participation in traffic.

With this Internet presentation of our Association, we have tried to make you familiar with the numerous activities and fields of work we are dealing with – dissemination of information and roadside assistance, training of future drivers, technical inspections, traffic safety, insurance, international documents, and especially all the benefits that you are entitled to by becoming a member of the AMSS, as a great, internationally recognized automobile organization. We expect you to place your trust in our organization, just as you have been doing it for the past 85 years, and to give us your suggestions, proposals and advice so that we could become better and more efficient, for the benefit of all the users of our services, which is actually our main objective.
